Tonight two Islanders are set to hit milestones in the games played category as the Islanders are in Detroit to play the Red Wings (Joe Louis Arena, 7:30 pm ET).
All-Star Frans Nielsen:
In his first season with the Detroit Red Wings, Frans Nielsen was the team’s lone representative at this year’s NHL All-Star weekend. For Nielsen, it was his first NHL All-Star game and although he was held off the scoresheet, he impressed during the skills competition. In his one game against the Islanders so far and his team’s only regular-season trip to the Barclays Center this season, Nielsen had an assist, setting up Mike Green’s first of the night.
Dennis Seidenberg is having a pretty good season with the Islanders so far, offensively and defensively. Tonight will be his 800th NHL game. In 799 career NHL games, Seidenberg has been around the league. Seidenberg has played for the Flyers, Coyotes, Hurricanes, Bruins, Panthers, and Islanders. He has 43 goals, 195 assists and a +/- of +44 over those 799 games including four goals and 10 assists in 41 games with the Islanders.
Jason Chimera was signed by the Islanders on the opening day of the free agency this past summer. Chimera has been a streaky player for the Islanders so far but he’s put up solid numbers with 10 goals and eight assists through 48 games. Tonight will be his 1,000th NHL game. Chimera has played for the Oilers, Blue Jackets, Capitals, and Islanders. He has 173 goals and 214 assists over those 999 games.
Weight: Hickey/Clutterbuck likely back in tomorrow. Greiss in goal in DET, likely Berube on Saturday.
