Before the 2017-2018 season begins, the Islanders will face four different teams and will play in seven different venues over eight preseason games. The preseason will start off with a return to the renovated NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on September 17th. The Isles spent the first 43 seasons of their history at the Coliseum before moving to the Barclays Center for the 2015-2016 season. This will be the Isles’ first game at the Coliseum since April 25th, 2015 where they forced a game seven with a 3-1 win over the Washington Capitals. The preseason opener will be against the Philadelphia Flyers and has a 1:00 pm start time.
The following day, they’ll head to Madison Square Garden to face the New York Rangers. Then, on the 20th the Islanders will split their training camp roster in half, sending one squad to play at the Barclays Center and one at PPL Center. Both games will be against the Flyers as PPL Center is home of the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Keeping with the AHL stadium trend, the Islanders will then face the Rangers at Webster Bank Arena, home of their AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
After a three day break the Islanders return home to the Barclays Center to face the New Jersey Devils. Then they’ll have a four day break before facing the Sabres in Buffalo. Following that, they’ll conclude their preseason on October 1st in Philadelphia against the Flyers.
